Spain vs Argentina World Cup final predictions: Winners plus Golden Ball and Golden Boot picks - The New York Times

World Cup final set for MetLife Stadium

The World Cup final is scheduled to take place on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, featuring a match between Argentina and Spain. Argentina secured their spot in the final after a comeback victory against England, while Spain advanced by defeating France in their semi-final match. This marks a second consecutive final appearance for Lionel Messi and a first for Spain’s Lamine Yamal.

The upcoming final represents a clash of styles, with Argentina leading the tournament in goals scored with 19, and Spain holding the record for the fewest goals allowed, conceding only one throughout the competition. Argentina is aiming for its fourth World Cup title and could become the first team to win back-to-back championships since Brazil in 1958 and 1962. Spain is seeking its second title, having previously won in 2010.

The two star players, Messi and Yamal, have a notable connection, having been photographed together when Yamal was an infant. Both players became left-footed stars for Spanish club Barcelona. This final will bring them together again, nearly two decades after their initial photo.
